Your treatment plan has been approved by your health insurer and orthodontic treatment can begin. In this video we explain what the co-payment is, how it is paid and how you get it back from your insurer.
What is the co-payment?
During treatment, statutory health insurance pays 80% of the treatment costs. You pay the remaining 20% yourself at first – this share is called the co-payment (“Eigenanteil”). When two children from one family are in treatment at the same time, the insurer usually covers 90% for the second child.
How is the co-payment paid?
You receive an invoice for the co-payment from us every quarter, which we collect automatically from your account under a SEPA direct debit mandate. All invoices are available in your digital invoice cloud.
The refund at the end
Once treatment has been completed successfully, we send your insurer a digital completion certificate. You then submit all co-payment invoices to your insurer and receive the co-payment you paid us back.
Very rarely, treatment is discontinued – by the patient, or because we have to end it. In that case the co-payment paid up to then is not refunded.
