No more gagging: with a conventional impression made with impression material, many patients gag – children in particular find it unpleasant. With the intraoral scanner we use at our specialist practice in Wolfratshausen, the gag reflex is greatly reduced.
How the digital scan works
Instead of an impression tray and putty, we guide a small scanner through the mouth. It captures the teeth and the upper and lower jaw and turns them into a precise three-dimensional model on screen. The scan is quick and comfortable – no taste, and no setting material in your mouth.
What we use the scan for
The digital model is the basis for much of what follows: planning the treatment, making aligner trays, retainers and other appliances in our practice laboratory, and planning where each bracket goes. Because the data is digital, it is especially accurate and can be called up again at any time.
For children and adults
For children, and for anyone who gags easily during impressions, the intraoral scan makes a real difference. Read more on our page about the digital scan without impressions.
